1615 - Devils Lake Frog Safari

If you are a frog fanatic, you will want to join us for this nocturnal trip to the park’s kettle ponds. We’ll listen for spring peepers, wood frogs, and chorus frogs. We’ll also listen for other night sounds as we hike the Johnson Moraine Trail. Bring your flashlight as we’ll be hiking right around dusk. The trails are often wet and muddy in the spring, so please wear footwear that can get wet! Meet at the Steinke Basin parking lot.

Note:

Every vehicle will be provided with a vehicle waiver form to avoid entrance fees to the park if you do not have a state park sticker.

Dress for hiking. The participants will go on a 1 ½ -hour (approx. 2 mile) hike. The trail will take them over uneven ground. Sturdy shoes are a must. Please dress in layers – it can often be cooler at the park than other areas, especially in the evening. In the spring, the trails are often muddy, so participants should wear shoes or boots that can get wet. Feel free to bring water and snacks but pack out any trash you bring with you.
