Do you like to garden? Want to help the declining wildlife or have less of a footprint on the environment? One way to accomplish these goals is by adding native plants to your existing garden or to create a new native plant garden. This class will get you well on your way!

We will cover: Benefits of gardening with natives. Overview of site research, planning and preparations. Basic landscaping concepts. Characteristics of selected native plants and lessons learned and helpful tips.

Bring home plants! All who register and attend will be given native plants to take home with them. Examples include Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa), Smooth Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis), Smooth Aster (Aster laeve) and Wild Columbine.

Note:

Instructor Sue Kenney has a BS and MS in Biology and Ecology and has been gardening most of her life. She specifically has 10 years experience gardening with natives and has about 2500 sq ft. on her property, containing 130 different plant species.
