1737 - Guided Nature Walk: Native Plants & Invasives

Join local naturalist Sue Kenney for a guided nature walk along the Riverfront Park! Sue is a wealth of knowledge about Wisconsin native plants and has done a lot of restoration work and invasive plant removal in our area.

During this interpretive walk, Sue will highlight native plants and how to identify them. She’ll talk about any local history and folklore of the plant, and ecological benefits like supporting pollination and preventing soil erosion.

Sue will also talk about invasive plants, why they are harmful to the environment, and best practices for removal. She’ll identify and discuss plants to avoid (like poison ivy!) and how to spot them when out in nature.

Note:

Park in the lot for the splash pad and playground, and meet the instructor at the “canoe launch” sign. Be prepared to walk approximately half a mile outside.

Water fountains and restrooms available by the splash pad and playground.

In case of inclement weather, we will reschedule to Saturday, July 11, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
