Programs
Interested in getting rid of the invasive plants in your landscaping or yard? Ever wonder what your property looked like before there was concrete, asphalt, and buildings?
This hands-on workshop will go through the basic steps to reclaim and restore your landscape, backyard, or acreage from invasive plant species. You’ll get practical information and advice useful for all restoration situations: from small sites up to larger plots of land. This workshop will also supply a list of websites and organizations to get additional help and guidance.
Local naturalist and native plant expert Sue Kenney will guide participants in determining the best native community to which to restore their land or yard, different methods and best practices for removing and managing invasive plants, and introducing new native plants. She will use examples from Moely Prairie and Sauk City Riverfront Park - where she has done restoration - to explain different concepts.
This workshop has both an indoor and outdoor component. After an indoor lecture and presentation at the Community Center, we will break for lunch, and then meet at the Riverfront Park & Splashpad for a hands-on demonstration in identifying and removing invasive plants.
